Dear,
I'd like to learn developing HPC applications on FPGA platforms. Being a software developer, I suppose it is the easiest to start with a programming environement like Impulse C. I am, however, not sure about the FPGA development board that I should start with.
Can anyone make a reasonable suggestion?
Thanks,
Bart

Hi Bart,
HPC development platforms vary widely in price and capability, but you could start with a PC-connected board, such as the E-14 or E-16 from from Pico Computing (http://picocomputing.com/). These boards plug in to PC Card and ExpressCard slots, respectively, and use a Xilinx FPGA. The upcoming Version 3 release of our CoDeveloper product will include support for both boards (E-14 is supported today).
Another platform we support today is the XtremeData XD1000, a complete system which includes an Opteron CPU coupled to a large Altera FPGA using HyperTransport (http://www.xtremedatainc.com/).
We have a weekly web training session you are welcome to join, to learn more about Impulse C and HPC. Questions are encouraged during these sessions. See here for more details: http://impulsec.com/web_conference.htm
Regards,
Ralph
